SHANNON STAR STAGE SCHOOL
COMMENCING SEPTEMBER 2008
NOTICE: All places for the September School have now been filled. However if you would still like the possibility of joining the School over the coming months please register now and we will let you know when a place becomes available.
The Shannon Star Stage School under the direction of Bryan Carr will commence classes on Saturday September 6th 2008.
Bryan has established this school as a result of numerous requests from parents and young people alike to setup a school in Tralee following his departure from Tralee Stage School where he was Musical Director and Vocal coach for six years.
Mission Statement: Shannon Star Stage School is first and foremost a Musical Theatre based school with performance development for young people as its core vision. The vision of the school will be carried out through group classes and workshops along with recital and costumed productions.
The main subject taught will be confidence building...this is the key to making any stage school an enjoyable experience. Every individual student attending our school will have their own personal strengths and weaknesses. At Shannon Star your child will be afforded the opportunity to develop their own personal performance skills at their own pace and without the pressure of the schools quality or reputation to inhibit this development. We want your child to grow in confidence. In this age of peer pressure, goals and achievement levels, bullying and isolation issues your child may need an outlet whereby their artistic side is developed and applauded. They may not come out of our Stage School as the best singer or best dancer or best actor but then again that is NOT what our school is about.

The production pieces covered will feature new school-based musicals especially produced for Musical Theatre youth groups. All the traditional and well-known musicals such as Annie, Oliver, Mary Poppins and more challenging musicals such as Miss Saigon, Blood Brothers, Sweeney Todd and the current hit Hairspray and Rent and many more that will involve the entire school. Bryan says that ‘with the numbers limited we can work at a relaxed and pressure free environment giving more time to the individual students and making sure that while all students are paying the same amount to attend the school that they are also getting an equal amount of class time and performance time’.
Drama Module This facilitator in Drama has previous Stage School experience and he has a very like-minded approach to building self-confidence through his main forte of improvisation work along with devised and self-developed material. Drama will be integrated into the productions that will be presented and all age groups will be given the chance to present their acting abilities. A number of workshops throughout the year will be given to close camera work.
Dancing Module An important part of any performance school. This facilitator has years of professional dance experience abroad winning several awards and has experience working with children. Styles covered will be choreographed block movement, rock jazz, hip-hop and modern. The integration of dance as it relates to the particular scene / production is vital for the understanding of movement.
Note: The names of the Drama & Dancing facilitators cannot be announced for operational reasons.
Music Theory Module Bryan’s qualifications from The Leinster School of Music and Drama Dublin in musicianship along with qualifications from The Royal Academy in singing and the Guildhall London qualifications in solo acting will assure that your child will get ongoing classes in music theory and music appreciation carried out in a workshop and fun environment.
